Third Dimension?

That kind of two-dimensional ethical reasoning causes too much suffering of decent people. I am not sure what kind of third dimension ethical reasoning can overcome such limitation. The third dimension relying on religion or absolutism might have made things worse.  Will AI do any better? Or do we need to wait for much more advanced biological beings?
